West Looe is holding a May Day Street Fayre tomorrow, so come along and enjoy the fun and support West Looe Traders.

The Fayre is to take place on Saturday 1st May 2010 between 10.30am and 4.30pm in West Looe.

There will be stalls in Princes Square, a photographic exhibition, a children's treasure hunt and a procession starting at the West Looe end of the bridge.

New Years Eve in Looe was amazing and really helped to jolly the place up a little in what can only be described as a drab time of year!

Apart from all the jolly behaviour on the ground and the amazing fancy dress costumes the fireworks this year were quite stupendous.

I took about 25 photographs and shot a video too which will follow as soon as I can edit it.

I decided not to upload them straight away as I thought you might be fed up with looking at all the other photos and videos on the web.

'Question Time' organised by Looe Chamber of Commerce, is coming to Looe on 21st April 2010.

East Looe Beach is worth a visit anytime but today visiting the beach is really going to take your breath away!

For there on the beach is a work of art in the form of a sand sculpture. Not just any sand sculpture but a very large sculpture of the Easter Bunny!

Looe Festival by the Sea is on July 10th and 11th 2010.

Over this weekend there will be much to see, much to eat and much to listen to! Looe Festival by the Sea includes music and dancing, food and drink and of course fishing, boating and sailing.  

There will be plenty of culture and traditions on show too, all set in lovely Looe with its sandy beaches and vibrant town.

When I started this website, my idea was to create a community site that focused on Looe and all the fantastic things that go on here. I wanted ilovelooe to be a central hub for visitors and residents alike. A place to talk and discuss things of local importance. I still do but...

RNLI  SOS.

Join the RNLI in Looe for its biggest fundraising event "Sup our Soup".

This fundraising event takes place in East Looe at the Albatross Lifeboat Station near the seafront.

West Looe Hill and Square will have a different type of visitor this year in the form of Southern Water. The water company has come to town to replace the existing water tank and pumping station.

This building work will cause some difficulties as West Looe Hill and Square may have to be closed or have reduced access.

I've just uploaded the Looe Lions Duck Race 2009 photographs. Again I think it was another Lions success as the town was packed full of people all buying tickets.

Today I discovered David Hunt who lives and works in Looe. David has spent the last few years putting together a 'Virtual Book' of the South West Coast Path and contacted me about a film he made of a walk around Looe.

I think it's great and a will give you an insight into the beauty surrounding Looe if you've never been here before. Having said that it might be an eye opener for some people who do live here too!

I can hear the Looe Lions megaphone in Looe pronouncing the Looe Duck Race which is obviously on later today.

If you haven't bought a ticket, get down here now, hand over a pound and stand a chance of winning £500 smacker-roos!

I think the ducks start their swim down the Looe River to the lower ferry steps at 1.30pm today - Sunday 23rd August.

The weather held, it didn't rain and I managed to take lots of photos and video for you to look at! Will you be in them?

Yes it's that time again - it's the Looe Lions Club Carnival Week.

Run by the Lions Club of Looe, Looe Carnival Week starts on Sunday July 26th and finishes on Saturday August 1st.

It's a wonderful family event and draws thousands of visitors throughout the week from around the area every year.

Computer wallpapers are a great way of personalising something you might sit in-front of for hours at a time - your computer!

These photographs of Looe should hopefully brighten up your day and remind you why Looe is so special.

The Wooldown in Looe has been top of the news agenda in Looe for some time now, ever since the Mums of Looe proposed a few additions to the area.

As most of you will know this has sparked a heated debate between the all parties with some quite unjustified remarks being made behind the scenes! 

However, the Wooldown is not the only area of outstanding beauty in Looe so perhaps now is the time to take a moment to look at Looe in a holistic way and try to work out what the town means to ALL of us and what we'd like to see it be like in 10, 20, 50 or even a 100 years time - when we're all 'pushing-up-the-daisies'!

I've just uploaded 49 photographs of the Looe Lugger Regatta 2009 to the galleries.

The Looe Lugger Regatta will be running over three days from Friday 12th June through until Sunday 14th June.

This is a lovely Cornish event and is wonderful to see (excuse the pun!) and join in with. The Cornish, French and UK Luggers create a magnificent scene on the sea and in the harbour.

I expect you already know, but it case you don't...........we have a new PLAY GROUND in Looe!

Its so exciting and the grand opening will be tomorrow on SATURDAY 13th JUNE from about 10am through until 3pm.

The opening ceremony will be at 11am.

The new playground occupies the same site as the old playground in the Millpool Car Park in West Looe. You won't miss it........just head for a very large gathering of delighted children and colourful play equipment!

The Herring Gull is an omnivorous scavenger and is found all around Looe.

You see them everywhere, nesting on roof tops and dancing on car bonnets! They're graceful, acrobatic, cheeky, fascinating, frightening and make for very protective parents! Personally I like them. 

Many people in Looe have a story to tell about having their sandwiches stolen. Many say they are the 'rats of the sky' whilst others see them as natural survivors who are adapting to us and our social habits.

Whatever you think, the Herring Gull has now been given Red Status by the RSPB and classed a threatened species. Love them or hate them, can you imagine waking up every morning to the eery silence of Looe without the cry of the Herring Gull?

It seems that the suggestions made for the Wooldown in Looe by the Mums of Looe group have caused quite a stir!

Further more, I find the behaviour of individuals and other businesses quite saddening.

If you, like me, feel that Looe is a beautiful place in an area of outstanding natural beauty then I urge you to read on, because we, as the residents of Looe need to work together to take Looe forward into the 21st Century and not get embroiled in petty infighting!

The National Powerboat Racing Championships are being held in Looe this weekend.

Date: 2nd and 3rd of May 2009

Looe Rowing Club has been rowing up and down Looe River since the early 1950s(!) and last weekend saw the opening of it Esmée Couch Boathouse on East Looe seafront.

I popped along to take some photographs and enjoy the morning sunshine - it was glorious!

The Mums of Looe have banded together to take positive action and campaign for improved facilities for children and families in the town.

Katrina Ring, organiser behind the new group, said "Over 40 Mums have now joined us, we are definitely a force to be reckoned with!"

I thought you might like to see a little movie I found on YouTube this morning.

Saint Piran (Saint Piran - Sen piran - Perran) is the patron saint of Cornish tin miners, widely regarded as the national Saint of Cornwall and to top ot all, it's Saint Piran’s feast day today - 5th March.

The Channel Four Time Team came to Looe last year (2008) to excavate the remains of a chapel called St Michaels.

They found more than stone foundations though, including a skeleton, pottery and a collection of Roman coins!

Looe or officially St George's Island is managed by the Cornwall Wildlife Trust who were delighted that Time Team could visit...

Looe, Polperro & District Chamber of Trade & Commerce are holding a Speed Networking Event at the Hannafore Point Hotel in West Looe, Cornwall on Tuesday 3rd March 2009 at 7pm.

The event is FREE to members and non-members but is limited to 40 places only, although you can just turn up and network after the main sessions in the hotel bar.

It's that time of year again when the Looe Film Society release their new season of films.

You should be able to pick up new LFS leaflets around town by the end of this month - I know because I design them!

The other news story though is that they'll be moving venue very soon to the new Children's Centre. More on this when the final date is released.

I think the last time there was any significant snowfall in Looe was in 2005, although do correct me if I'm wrong.

Smile, it's a new year!

This website is independent and not linked to the Looe Town Council or Looe Tourist Board in any way! However, occasionally I like to blow the 'Looe trumpet'!

Contrary to what the media have to say, things aren't so bad and if you're thinking about a short break or holiday this year, why not pop down to Looe in Cornwall.

We've got great Cornish food, sandy beaches, rockpools, sea fishing, interesting shops, pubs and even crab fishing for the kids! 

As Monty Python said, "Always look on the bright side of life" and come to Looe - ok, they didn't say that bit but it still applies!

After nearly 20 years of being in a wooden hut on the Sunrising Estate in East Looe, the Barbican Pre-School has finally moved to a new and fully refurbished Pre-School building in Trewint Crescent.

The Barbican Pre-School is a charity set up to teach and look after local children from the age of 2 years and has seen many of the local children come and go through its doors.

The Looe Remembrance Sunday Service will be held at the War Memorial in East Looe by the Looe town bridge on Sunday 9th November.

Remembering all the people who died in both the World Wars and subsequent conflicts is vitally important and we should all take an hour out of our 'hectic' lives to pay our respects and spare a few thoughts for those who helped give us what we have today - freedom.

After a couple of years of lying low, Looe Chamber of Commerce has been resurrected by local Looe and Polperro business people.

A new Chair and Vice-Chair were voted in on Thursday this week and a new marketing and publicity sub-committee set up to look at the best way of promoting Looe and its businesses to the wider world.

The powerboat racing weekend in Looe is over but we took plenty of photographs of the racing, the boats and the winners for you to check out.

If you didn't make it to Looe this year then the plan is to hold a powerboat racing championship in Looe in 2009 on May Bank Holiday so why not try to get down here then.

Looe Valley Walking Festival 2008 is run and organised my Mark Camp, a qualified Blue Badge Guide, who has lived in the Looe area for over 30 years. The festival consists of five days of walking in and around the Looe valley, including walks on Bodmin Moor, the South West Coast Path and a pub crawl around Looe itself!
