It was a tad too windy on East Looe Beach this year so the Looe Raft Race 2014 started from the RNLI station down by the Banjo Pier.
I think this gave the race a different atmosphere and it certainly wasn’t as far for the competitors to row!
Out on the water it was chaos to start with but very exciting to as all the rafts jostled for position, some face the wrong way whilst others crept ahead before the starter horn was sounded!
Needless to say it was great fun and I’ve posted all 53 Looe Raft Race 2014 photographs in the Looe Raft Race gallery.
Looe Raft Race 2014 photographs
Here are three images from the gallery to whet your appetite…
1. Just before the start and most rafts are facing the wrong way… notice how the Looe Music Festival raft has got the right idea 🙂
2. And they’re off… complete chaos and oh, so competitive, just look at that sail on the RNLI raft… is that allowed?
3. I think the ‘Rivercroft Rafters’ came in 2nd or 3rd… can anyone confirm this?
