Liskeard Show 2008 (nr Looe) photographs just uploaded.

Liskeard Show 2008Last weekend we trekked over to the Liskeard Show 2008, had a lovely day and managed to grab some photos for you to look at into the bargain. Click here to go straight to the gallery or click the Read More link below.

The rain had been pouring down on Liskeard, Looe and the the rest of Cornwall it seemed for days but the organisers of Liskeard Show 2008 (Click here for photographs) were adamant that the show must go on.

Now in it’s 105th year, the Liskeard Show is woven into the fabric of this part of Cornwall and attracts visitors from all over the county and beyond. The thought of cancelling it because of some rain seemed inconceivable – luckily enough the sun came out and it was a lovely day.

We left it a little late to get there and were expecting huge queues and mud up to our axles but we were pleasantly surprised to find a very well organised and thought out parking system that worked like a dream – and not a boggy field in site.

After a very short walk to the show entrance, we paid, bought a catalogue and made our way into the grounds. The first thing that hit us was the sheer size of the event. For a local show they sure do pack in the attractions, including:

  • tents full of pets
  • tents full of chickens
  • tents full of ducks
  • pens of massive bulls and other farm animals
  • huge cart horses
  • fly fishing demonstrations
  • tug-of-war competitions
  • live music
  • Cornish food tent
  • rides and attractions for the children
  • tractor and farm machinery exhibitors
  • craft stalls
  • food stalls
  • old tractor exhibitions
  • tractor demonstrations
  • horse riding competitions
  • fruit and veg. displays

We took some photographs of the Liskeard Show 2008 and have posted them up in the iloveloo.co.uk galleries for you to see but whatever you do, don’t miss out on next year’s show. It’s always held on the second Saturday in July and is open all day.
