Looe Chamber of Commerce back in business

After a couple of years of lying low, Looe Chamber of Commerce has been resurrected by local Looe and Polperro business people.

A new Chair and Vice-Chair were voted in on Thursday this week and a new marketing and publicity sub-committee set up to look at the best way of promoting Looe and its businesses to the wider world.

A very successful meeting took place last Wednesday (29th October) in the Hannafore Point Hotel.

Local Looe and Polperro business representatives elected Malcolm Brooks, owner of Barclay House as Chair, Sarah Lee, owner of Paint-a-Pot as Vice Chair and John Trethewey as Treasurer.

Various Looe Chamber of Commerce committee members were also selected, including:

Derek Braithwaite (Anchor Lights)

  • Robert Chisman (Polperro Pharmacy)
  • Alan Vaughan (Call Centre Consultants)
  • Martin Noble (Larssens)
  • Ally Martin (Purely Cornish)
  • Doug Gray (Badham Farm Cottages)
  • Simon Hannaford (Computer Solutions).

Retiring Chair Brett Pearn agreed to accept the President’s role.

After the main meeting, agreements were reached on:

  • A New Years Eve Fireworks donation.
  • Christmas Lights support for Looe and Polperro.
  • Promotion/publicity work to commence immediately relating to leaflets and website.

Membership of the new Looe Chamber of Commerce is a very reasonable £52.00 (annual fee) which will be used to support the very many projects that they have planned. If you are a local hotel, plumber or Guest House, we urge you to join as you will benefit from a strong and active Chamber of Commerce in Looe.

If you supply your email address you will also be included in all email letters sent from the Looe Chamber of Commerce in the future.

ilovelooe.co.uk would just like to thank David Holford for getting the Chamber of Commerce back into action. Although he’ll not be part of the new committee, his initial involvement and enthusiastic encouragement has gone a long way to ensure the future of the new Looe Chamber of Commerce.

Cheers David.
