Movie Night and 3D TV in Looe – Day 18

The Looe Daily Photo Day 18Do you ever wonder about what there is to do in Looe in the evening?

Well, we have:

  • A film society
  • A social club
  • Various choral groups
  • Pubs
  • Restaurants
  • Cafés
  • Bars
  • A gym and swimming pool
  • Karaoke
  • Live music in various public houses
  • Traditional Cornish singing
  • Many other clubs and societies
  • 3D TV – bring your specs!

It’s a long list considering we are a small Cornish fishing town and it goes to show what a vibrant community we have here.

Anyway, the picture today was taken outside The Harbour Moon pub in West Looe.

Movie Night and 3D TV in Looe – Day 18

If you’re not local or don’t go out in town all that often, you may not know that The Harbour Moon shut down for a while. I don’t know the reason why it closed but it was disappointing. It used to serve wonderful seafood and has arguably the best view of any pub in Looe, so if anywhere should have survived and prospered, it should have been The Harbour Moon.

Situated right next to West Looe Quay, it enjoys panoramic views across the harbour over to East Looe. It really is a great place to sit, relax and enjoy a drink and a bite to eat.

All change 🙁

Let me know if I’m wrong but since The Harbour Moon re-opened the menu has changed somewhat and I’m not sure if they will ever sell the great seafood dishes they used too. The menu is not the only thing to have changed either. Since the pub reopened, it has been refurbished and now has a new look and layout featuring decorative mirror work by Oneoffs Stained Glass in Looe.

The pub has a more contemporary feel and is definitely different to the old look and layout. You have to admire the new owners for trying to embrace change and I hope it works out for them.

The picture below is of the entertainment board outside but I shall add an overall photo of the pub when they have finished painting the outside.

Cheers for now. Chris.
