West Looe May Day Street Fayre – Tomorrow!

Looe May Day FayreWest Looe is holding a May Day Street Fayre tomorrow, so come along and enjoy the fun and support West Looe Traders.

The Fayre is to take place on Saturday 1st May 2010 between 10.30am and 4.30pm in West Looe.

There will be stalls in Princes Square, a photographic exhibition, a children’s treasure hunt and a procession starting at the West Looe end of the bridge.

West Looe May Day Street Fayre has a variety of events going on throughout the day with something for everyone to enjoy, from dancing to a guided tour of West Looe!

Stalls will be open all day in Princes Square. There will be Roger Bennett Cornish songs at the Bay Tree from 10.30am and the procession will start at 11.00am from the West Looe end of the bridge with dancing – everyone is welcome to join in!

Looe May Queen and green manOutside St Nicholas Church at 11.30am, Rev Brian McQuillen will bless proceedings followed by an offical opening by Geraldine Oliver chair of West Looe Town Trust with the Mayor of Looe Cllr Joy.

At noon there will be a Maypole dance with children from Sheila’s school of Dancing along with the St Pinnock Band. Sheila’s dancers will then dance their way around Princes Street, Quay Road, Fairbank and Church Street.

The Looe Entertainers will be on the harbour side stage from 1.00pm.

Between 2.00pm and 3.00pm there will be a West Looe Heritage Tour starting from St Nicholas Church with guide Mark Camp.

Keltique, the Ladies Looe Choir will sing from 3.00pm and at 4.30pm to end the celebrations newlyweds Maria and Peter will seal their marriage with a dance around the Maypole.

Let us hope everyone has a great day, so come along and support the traders of West Looe, and even if its wet events will still carry on in the Fire Station, Jolly and Riverside.
